Planning a Kitchen Renovation in Toronto? Here's Where to Start

Kitchens are the room we're asked to renovate most, and it's easy to see why. It's where the most time gets spent, and the space that shows its age the fastest. If you're just starting to think about a kitchen renovation, here's where we'd suggest starting too.

Start With How You Actually Use the Space

Before any layout gets drawn up, it's worth thinking honestly about how your kitchen gets used day to day. Do you cook as a household, or is it mostly one person at a time? Do you need a spot for kids to do homework, or room for guests to hang around while you cook? The answers shape everything that comes after.

Think About Storage Before Finishes

It's tempting to jump straight to countertops and cabinet colours, but storage is what makes a kitchen work long-term. Custom cabinetry built around how you actually store things (small appliances, pantry goods, dishware) pays off more than any finish choice.

Decide Early Whether It's a Full Gut or a Refresh

Some of our kitchen projects are full gut renovations as part of a larger whole-home project. Others are standalone updates that keep the existing footprint but rework cabinetry, counters, and lighting. Knowing which one you're planning for early on makes budgeting and timeline conversations much more accurate.
